The engine is the core component of a car, and the engine is running under all operating conditions when the car is running. Therefore, no matter how good the engine is, some minor faults may occur, such as the valve cover gasket leaking. What are the reasons for the valve cover gasket leaking?
1. The aging of the valve cover gasket itself causes oil leakage
The valve cover gasket is a rubber sealing ring, and not only is there a sealing ring around the valve cover, but also around each spark plug sleeve. The role of these rubber seals is to prevent oil leakage. The engine is likely to experience aging of the valve cover gasket due to prolonged use (above 100,000 kilometers), which will lead to oil leakage.
2. Crankcase forced ventilation valve is blocked
When the engine is running at high speed, the pressure and temperature of the oil will continue to increase, and it is necessary to ventilate and cool the engine crankcase to reduce the oil pressure. If the forced ventilation valve of the crankcase is blocked, it will directly lead to excessive oil pressure. At this time, the valve cover gasket may leak oil.
3. Failure of other parts of the engine caused oil leakage of the valve cover gasket
The aging of the engine piston ring leads to inadequate sealing. When the engine is running at high speed, the phenomenon of cylinder blow-by occurs, which makes the exhaust gas pressure excessively high. In severe cases, it will directly cause the valve cover gasket to damage the oil leakage.
In addition, due to the particularly poor quality of the engine oil, carbon deposits and serious piston adhesion, improper installation of the valve cover gasket, resulting in uneven force, etc., these problems will cause damage to the valve cover gasket and oil leakage.
